Brain Block
My brain has been addled all week. I started and restarted several projects this week. I know I am in the doldrums. I generally have a lot of different projects on my needles simply because I know I don't have the attention to finish them all in one go. I am a process knitter vs. a product knitter. What is the difference? I am glad you asked.
Product knitter:
1)it is about the end result, or the knitted item you get
2) generally has an organized stash of yarn with intended projects and patterns clearly labeled
3) usually has only one project going at a time
4) takes notes on all their projects and may even have a scrapbook about them
Process Knitter:
1) it is about the technique and avoiding boredom
2) their stash may have a small level of organization, but two years down the road when they pull out that yarn again, they have no clue why they bought it.
3) has a multitude of projects going. some are lace, some are fair isle, some are brioche, and oh, I just saw an article about that new slip stitch mosaic I want to try, and is that how you knit in Portuguese style?
4)has to count stitches to figure out where they left off in a pattern, but their memory is pretty sharp because of it.
Sometimes I wish I was more organized, better at finishing my projects . . . but I do get distracted. Knitting ADD. Right now, I would guess I have about 20 projects going, especially if you count all the second socks I have yet to knit, but second sock syndrome is a real thing for every knitter, so I don't feel too bad.
